Fields of Grace 2026 Spring NewsletterWinter Workings
We have been busy bees doing winter workings. When we are not gleaning, we are performing outreach and raising funds. Here are some of the groups we have made presentations to! We want to say thank you to all for inviting us to share our mission!

Gleaning
This is the first year we have continued to glean throughout the winter. At Dr. Coopers garden, winter greens are prolific and we have been out helping him thin greens such as chard, mustard, collard greens, cilantro, and turnips to be donated to Restoration Community Market. Hundreds of pounds of greens have been gleaned from Dr. Cooper. It has been a great way to stay connected to the soil when harvest season came to an end.

Fundraising
Fundraising for Fields of Grace has evolved over the years. At one time we would host a yearly banquet that would raise enough funds to support our entire budget. During covid, we pivoted to a Pickup- BBQ dinner which continuously raises a little less than a quarter of the funds we need for the year. This means we must find other ways to fund the remaining need. We do not have the capacity for a full-blown banquet, however what we have done to prevail is: make more direct donation asks to corporations, begin a gleaning season sponsorship program, create a Yoga on the Farm fundraising series where we provide yoga classes on our local Agritourism Farms, bringing awareness to local agriculture. All of these ideas have been successful and fulfilling but not for the weak. It takes time and consistency to ask corporations for funding. It take presenting and follow ups, and relationship nourishment. If anyone is interested in becoming a sponsor or know of a business looking for an impactful way to do marketing let us know!

Support the Mission of Charities with your IRA
If you are 73 or older, you must withdraw a specific amount, the RMD (Required Minimum Distribution), from your IRA (Individual Retirement Account) each year. A tax benefit will result if you direct your IRA Custodian to send contributions from your IRA directly to your favorite charities (like Fields of Grace or your church). These will then be a QCD (Qualified Charitable
Distribution) so this IRA withdrawal is not taxable. You may thus contribute up to $108,000 each year from your IRA.

Gleaning and Faith

Fields of Grace is a (501-3c) non-profit organization. However our foundation was built on religious scriptures such as Leviticus 19:9-10 and the first gleaning group was formed out of West Side Church of Richland as a small ministry. Today, we are not affiliated with any specific church and we welcome all groups, clubs, churches, schools, business, etc to join our hands in harvesting fresh food for those in need.

While standing on this foundation it is our hope that through joining in prayer to bless the harvest and those who receive, and through the biblical calling to glean, that Fields of Grace may open the door to faith!

If you are affiliated with a group that would be interested in hearing about our mission, please reach out to request a presentation 🙂
